Seminar on the Impact of Climate Change on Sustainable Aquaculture
This seminar provided an opportunity to share the results and experiences of implementing the CATALYST project - Adaptation to Climate Change through Food and Water Systems. This project aims to enhance understanding and capacity regarding the relationship between food, water, and ecosystem resilience. Sponsored by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), the project has achieved significant milestones through interdisciplinary research, promoting the application of new solutions to achieve Sustainable Development Goals at the regional level.
Additionally, the seminar focused on 12 presentations, divided into two main topics: (1) Challenges posed by climate change to aquaculture activities and (2) Solutions for the sustainable development of aquaculture in Vietnam. These presentations, delivered by experts from partner organizations, shed light on the impact of climate change on the aquaculture industry in Vietnam and highlighted priority challenges to be addressed in the near future.
In her opening speech, Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet, Vice Dean of SCLS, emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between partners in education and scientific research activities.
The HEFCW - GCRF Catalyst project (Adaptation to Climate Change through Food and Water Systems), with project code JA2300RD15, is a prime example of collaboration between Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Cardiff University, UK, from 2021 to 2022. The seminar not only provided an opportunity to showcase the project results but also served as a platform to connect partners and continue discussions on future collaborative proposals to promote the sustainable development of the aquaculture industry in Vietnam, within the framework of funding sources from the UK Research and Innovation Fund (UKRI).
