Following the Agreement on Academic and Educational Cooperation signed on April 24th 2024, between Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences (SCLS) conducted a visit to Nagaoka University of Technology from 17th June to 21st June 2025.
The delegation includes:

(2) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Trung Nghia, JICA-JST SATREPS INBERBORN Project Manager
(3) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, Head of Department of Chemistry
(4) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tuan Anh, Vice-Head, Department of Biotechnology
(5) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Hong Nga, Lecturer, Department of Biotechnology
(6) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nghiem Thi Thuong, JICA-JST SATREPS INBERBORN, Project Member
(7) Bui Thi Thanh Binh (PhD), Lecturer, Department of Chemistry
Prof. Kamado Shigeharu, President of Nagaoka University of Technology, delivered a welcome speech to the delegation
The two sides discussed cooperation plans regarding education and joint research projects for the 2025-2030 period:
- In October 2025, Prof. Tatsuya Suzuki will deliver several lectures for SCLS students.
- Staring in 2026, SCLS will send students, including 1-2 master students or PhD candidates, to participate in both exchange programs and regular Master’s and PhD courses at NUT. These students will be supported by Japanese scholarship such as Sakura-Science, SDG-MEXT, and others, as well as scholarship from the Vietnamese government.
- From 2026, SCLS will also begin receiving exchange students from NUT from 2026.
- Both sides agreed to continue promoting in-depth research collaboration through projects such as SATREPS, COI-NEXT, and others.

During the visit, we were pleased to welcome Mr. Diep Xuan Truong, Head of Industrial Department and representative of the Vietnam Rubber Group. His participation aims to strengthen the industry-university collaboration, advancing the commercialization of the research outcomes.

During the visit, the delegation also had a working session with Professor Wataru Ogasawara, Head of the HAKKOS Science Laboratory. Professor Ogasawara introduced the main research directions of the laboratory and presented the KOME-DOKORO project (under the COI-NEXT Research Program of the Japanese Government) with the goal of preserving and developing the traditional values of the KOME-DOKORO rice production area.

On the occasion of the visit, the delegation also held a meeting with Vietnamese students studying at Nagaoka University of Technology. Currently, there are nearly 100 Vietnamese students at NUT including those from Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

The visit of the delegation from School of Chemistry and Life Sciences was a highly successful and marked significantly progress in the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Nagaoka University of Technology. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Ky Son also extended an invitation to professors from Nagaoka University of Technology to visit Hanoi University of Science and Technology for its 70th anniversary cellebration on October 15th 2026.
