In the latest development of the international collaboration journey, the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences (SCLS) at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) has witnessed a significant strengthening of ties with Chungnam National University (CNU) in South Korea. This event not only marks a milestone in the cooperative relationship between the two universities but also promises new opportunities in the realms of education and research.
The Department of Chemical Engineering from Chungnam National University visited and collaborated with the Department of Chemical Engineering at the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences, Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
On February 5th, Assoc.Prof. La Thế Vinh, Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences (SCLS), led a reception for the delegation from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at Chungnam National University (CNU). This meeting unveiled various possibilities for new collaborations, fostering connections between the Chemical Engineering Department of SCLS and the Korean partner. Within the framework of previously signed cooperation agreements between CNU and HUST, numerous activities, visits, and working sessions were executed. Prof. Chu Kỳ Sơn and the delegation from the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences engaged in discussions and signed cooperation agreements at CNU. They also participated in the inauguration ceremony of the CNU-HUST Global Center and other significant centers at both universities. This event not only solidified existing relationships but also holds promise for large-scale collaborative projects in the future. During the working session, Assoc.Prof. La Thế Vinh emphasized the School's crucial mission in producing high-quality human resources and promoting research collaboration. He highlighted the potential for long-term cooperation and innovation in education, research, technology transfer, and industry partnerships. This period provided an opportunity for the delegation to explore the facilities of HUST, taking advantage of the break granted to students for the Lunar New Year.Professor Sungtak Kim, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at CNU, expressed appreciation for the warm reception from the School's leadership and profession team leaders. Building on the established diplomatic relations between the Vietnamese and Korean governments, the CNU delegation expressed a desire to further expand this relationship through enhanced collaboration in teaching, research, student, and faculty exchanges between the two universities. He hopes that the collaboration between the Chemical Engineering Departments of CNU and SCLS will extend not only for 5 or 10 years but for a more extended period. In the opinion exchange segment, Professor Đặng Trung Dũng, head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, shared insights into the training programs and industrial approach trends at HUST. He also introduced plans for developing collaborative research projects between the profession groups of the Chemical Engineering Department and laboratories at the CNU Chemical Engineering Department. This information not only strengthens collaboration in teaching but also opens up opportunities for students and faculty from both institutions. The professors from the Department of Chemical Engineering at CNU presented the current research directions and expressed their expectations for the support and involvement of students from SCLS. Detailed information regarding admission requirements for students, research scholars when studying abroad, and conducting research at CNU, as well as the support funds provided by CNU for Vietnamese students, were discussed. This discussion sets the stage for future collaborative and innovative projects.
The meeting between the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences at Hanoi University of Science and Technology and representatives from Chungnam National University is not only a significant event but also a crucial turning point in expanding collaborative ties between two prestigious universities.
