In celebration of the 69th anniversary of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (1956–2025), on the afternoon of October 15, the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences (SCLS) solemnly held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a handover agreement for an automatic wastewater monitoring system transferred by WEKOTEC Co., Ltd. (Korea) through Minh Thành Group Co., Ltd. (Vietnam).
The MOU ceremony
The event took place at Room C10-402 in a warm, respectful, and friendly atmosphere, attended by the University’s Board of Rectors, scientists, lecturers, and representatives from both partner enterprises. It marked a new milestone in research cooperation and technology transfer for a greener Vietnam.
Cooperation for Science and Community
According to the signed MOU, WEKOTEC – representing KOICA’s IBS (Inclusive Business Solution) Program – donated to SCLS a continuous automatic wastewater monitoring system valued at over 2.7 billion VND. The system includes a multi-parameter analysis device (WEKO-AiO-WQMS), an automatic sampling unit (WEKO-AS), a tank system, a central control cabinet, a data logging and transmission unit (Datalogger), as well as calibration chemicals and accompanying technical documents. All equipment is brand new, meeting international technical standards (CE – Europe). WEKOTEC has completed installation and trial operation of the system at Room C10-401, School of Chemistry and Life Science, Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Yoon Jae Sung, CEO of WEKOTEC, emphasized:
“The water monitoring system we are presenting today is not only a technological product but also a symbol of friendship, technical cooperation, and human resource development between Korea and Vietnam. WEKOTEC is committed to accompanying Hanoi University of Science and Technology on its journey toward Vietnam’s sustainable development.”
Science in Practice – Learning through Hands-on Experience
The automatic wastewater monitoring system will serve teaching, research, and advanced training activities for students, graduate students, and researchers in fields such as Environmental Engineering, Resource and Environmental Management, Chemistry, and Applied Biology. At the same time, the system serves as a demonstration model of advanced technology, enabling students to directly engage with modern monitoring equipment and develop practical skills in analysis and industrial equipment operation in accordance with international standards. Assoc. Prof. Dr. La Thế Vinh, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, affirmed:
“The reception of this automatic wastewater monitoring system from WEKOTEC is of great significance for our training and research activities. It is a concrete example of effective cooperation between the University, Enterprises, and the Community, contributing to realizing HUST’s commitment to sustainable development and green transition.”
