On the morning of August 22, 2025, at Room C4-215, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences (SCLS) held a working session with Minh Thanh Group Co., Ltd. and Wekotec (Korea) to strengthen cooperation in research, training, and technology transfer, within the framework of the Inclusive Business Solution (IBS) project jointly implemented by KOICA and Korean enterprises.

The working session was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. La The Vinh – Vice Dean of SCLS, Mr. Yoon Jae Sung – CEO of Wekotec, and Ms. Cao Huyen Trang – CEO of Minh Thanh Group Co., Ltd and other members.

The cooperation focused on two key areas:
Installation of Wekotec’s Water Quality Monitoring System at SCLS in September 2025. The system includes multiple sensors (ammonium, COD, pH, TSS, DO, temperature, color), advanced analysis categories (ammonium, total nitrogen, total phosphorus), and an automatic water sampling device. All costs will be covered by the IBS project. This system will serve as a hands-on tool for students to practice and effectively support laboratory courses on water and wastewater monitoring.
Annual internship program for students, starting from 2026, aimed at training and recruiting water quality monitoring technicians, thereby contributing to building a high-quality workforce for the country.

In addition to these main activities, the parties also proposed R&D cooperation in ecotoxicology, field data collection and analysis, research on volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and antibiotics, and ecological risk assessment. Notably, IoT solutions will be applied to develop automatic data collection systems at industrial discharge points, agricultural runoff areas, and flood-prone zones, contributing to the development of intelligent wastewater treatment models.
The IBS program – a public–private partnership under Official Development Assistance (ODA) coordinated by KOICA – aims to build sustainable business models that integrate corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community benefits, thereby fostering socio-economic development and environmental protection.
