From a Signing Ceremony to a Platform for Vietnam–South Korea Scientific Cooperation

On August 13, the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences (SCLS), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding with the G-LAMP Research Institute, Chonnam National University, South Korea.
From a Signing Ceremony to a Platform for Vietnam–South Korea Scientific Cooperation
The agreement sets out practical areas of cooperation, including faculty member, researcher and student exchanges; research camps and international innovation programmes; internship opportunities in South Korea; joint research projects and publications; and collaborative proposals for international funding programmes such as Horizon Europe, APEC and ASEAN.

Following the signing ceremony, scientists from both countries presented their latest work in chemistry and advanced materials. The discussions addressed pressing scientific challenges: converting CO₂ and CH₄ into sustainable chemicals, upcycling plastic waste, adding value to agricultural by-products, developing functional materials from biomass, and advancing research in catalysts, luminescent materials and Alzheimer’s disease.

G-LAMP brings strong expertise in advanced materials, green energy and interdisciplinary research. SCLS contributes a broad academic foundation spanning chemistry, chemical engineering, biotechnology, food technology and environmental science. Together, the two institutions aim to expand opportunities for students, connect research teams and turn scientific ideas into solutions for real-world challenges.

The agreement has been signed. A new chapter of cooperation now begins.
