Group of Molecular and Cell Biology

The Molecular and Cell Biology group is one of three specialization groups within the Department of Bioengineering. The group was established in December 2023 on the basis of arranging staff with expertise to teach modules related to molecular biology and cell technology for bachelor's degrees in bioengineering, food engineering, and biomedical engineering. The officers of the professional group also participate in the master's degree programs in Biotechnology, Food Technology and the doctoral training program in Biotechnology. Currently, the professional group consists of 10 staff (03 Associate Professors, 05 PhDs, 01 Master and 01 Engineer), undertaking the task of teaching 38 modules.

Main research directions:
  • Research and develop rapid analytical solutions and tools based on molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology techniques for analysis and diagnosis of diseases and pathogens, applications in healthcare, veterinary medicine, fisheries and food safety control.
  • Research on screening and creating new gene sources, especially indigenous gene sources, for the goal of developing protein, enzyme, biologically active ingredients thanks to proteomics and molecular biology techniques for industrial, agricultural, medical and pharmaceutical applications.
  • Research on animal cell culture technology, recombinant technology on animal cells and cell products for bioproduct development.
  • Microbial diversity studies using culture and non-culture directions, assessing their role in material metabolism in ecosystems as well as horizontal gene transfer between them and risks to human health and ecosystem sustainability.
